This month’s featured artist:
Photographs by Mary Gorman
The featured artist at the Maclure Library during the month of September will be Mary Gorman of Mt. Holly. Her photographs for this exhibit entitled, A Fresh Look: Assembled Stills and Florals represent a selection of photographs from a collection she has worked on over the past winter, along with new florals from this summer.
“My background in photography,” said Mary, “began very early when I was encouraged to use a darkroom that was set up in the family home. Over the years film photography has remained both a way to share and a tool to explore new ideas. The recent addition of digital techniques combined now with film offers me ways to expand my view of traditional subjects as well as newer abstract ones.”
“A Fresh Look, includes a selection of flowers that might seem common at first glance, but command the viewers’ attention when the camera lens is turned toward them,” Mary believes, “allowing each floral portrait its own moment.
